Have you ever wondered what our logo slogan means?
"Sa Chathair Fein" is gaelic for "Right in the City."
The Harrisburg Saint Patrick's Day Parade Association was CREATED
More than eight years ago, at the specific request of representatives of the City of Harrisburg, volunteers came together to plan an annual event to promote the heritage and culture of the local Irish community. The Harrisburg St. Patrick's Day Parade Association (HSPDPA), a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, was originally born of the efforts of volunteers that came together over the years to plan an annual event that symbolizes and promotes the heritage and culture of the local Irish community.
The Harrisburg Saint Patrick's Day Parade Association has EVOLVED
We now provide a common focus to all the local Irish organizations active in central Pennsylvania for the coordination of resources to promote Irish heritage and culture.
The Harrisburg Saint Patrick's Day Parade Association has ARRIVED
Primary, but certainly not exclusively, The Harrisburg Saint Patrick's Day Parade Association function is the planning, preparation and organization of the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Harrisburg in mid-March. This Parade typically involves over 90 participating groups viewed by more than 25,000 spectators and community leaders. This celebration is part of a week of activities that honor our collective ethnic heritage.
The Harrisburg Saint Patrick's Day Parade Association has MORE TO GIVE
More importantly, The Harrisburg Saint Patrick's Day Parade Association serves as a year-round resource for students, educators and parents. We provide opportunities for students and other participants to engage in ongoing cultural, religious, historical, economic, and political issues of heritage in the central Pennsylvania area.
